Description:  Ashley is 5 years old and the best big sister. Her sister Hailey began having seizures at 22 months old. She has endured months in the hospital, a coma and 3 brain surgeries. Ashley sang her songs in the hospital and held her hand. Since we have been home she continues to take care of her sister. She helps her walk, plays with her and helps with her feedings and medications. She tells me not to worry because Hailey will be ok. Ashley is so strong and brave. I would love for her to feel as special as she is.

Description:  Joseph is kind, thoughtful, and wise beyond his 12 years-- I'm a very lucky dad! He does well in school and sports, does his chores without a fuss, and volunteers within the community. In his room, the ceiling tiles are falling down from water damage in Hurricane Irene, he has 2 broken and boarded up windows, and the paint color has been on his walls since he was a baby. He's asked in the past for a bedroom update but we're lacking the resources and know-how. Please help a well deserving young man get the room of his dreams!

Description:  Noah is 3 years old and due to multiple health issues he spent most of his first 2 1/2 years in the hospital. All he really ever knew was what a hospital room looked like. When at home he always shared a room with mommy due to needed close observation. He is now growing into a wonderful little boy and deserves a room of his own. A room he can enjoy and seperate from a hospital room. Noah is the sweetest happiest little guy I know and will definitely melt your heart.

Description:  My daughter Naomi is very deserving of the Dream Room Makeover. She is six years old, and in the first grade. In January of this year her father unexpectedly died. She has been remarkably brave, and has had many struggles having to deal with such grief at such a young age.
She deserves a place to be able to enjoy and use her imagination. Free of any worries.
The guilt of working full time and mananging lifes challenges can be overwhemling. Giving this gift to Naomi would be priceless.

Description:  This 'dream' makeover for my precious little guy couldn't have come at a better time. My son was born 4 months ago, and he joined my husband and I in our tiny one bedroom apartment. We had to relocate within one month after his arrival to a whole new state. Living on one salary like many and worrying about everyday expenses, our focus is our son, our number one priority. We hope to make his future bright and encourage him that dreams can come true. As he grows, he WILL have a room to call his own.

Description:  My son was diagnosed with verbal apraxia of speech last year. He has speech sessions five times a week. He tries so hard and deserves a place to be able to relax after a rough day of being frustrated that people do not understand him. He understands everything but has difficulty forming words so most people are unsure of what he wants or needs. He deserves an awesome room that shows him we love him for who he is and that he is a smart boy who we understand.

Description:  Juliet's "room" is a hallway at the top of the stairs. There is no closet for her clothes they hang out in the open and to high for her to reach. She has a mish mash of dressers. Juliet only spends time in her room to sleep. Its not inviting and doesn't hold her toys and books. She has Down Syndrom and I would like her room to be more user friendly, a space she would like to be in and use independently. She work so hard, I would be so happy for her.

Description:  Miles Appleby, my six year old grandson, lost his older brother last year. In June 2011, Ruben died of a rare form of brain cancer. Ruben was only in the hospital for 4 weeks, but that short time was devastating, as his brother Mom, and Dad now lived there.

When Ruben died, Miles grieving was profound. He screamed daily in anger/sorrow and would not sleep in his room all night. He would go into Ruben's room where he told his mom and dad he could "feel him", and would talk to him.

Miles heart needs magic.

Description:  We are a family of five... currently. My husband and I foster children and have two girls of our own. We find it wonderfully rewarding and plan to continue fostering. The agency requires that our foster son have his own room. Here comes the snag.. trying to convince our 2-going-on-3 year old that moving out of our bedroom into her 6 year old sister's is a great idea. She's not buying it. This make-over just might be our ticket to continuing our foster care journey and having a kid free bed at the same time!

Description:  My son was born 3 days after moving to CT and into our home, while my husbands was deployed. Afterwards, I was diagnosed with chroic Lyme disease, our roof leaked, kitchen ceiling fell apart and windows leaked. Everything else took priority. My husband's been deployed most of the past 2 years... with no money, no time, and no help his room turned to storage and my son co-sleeps with me. My husband asked for us to have our own bed when he gets back, my son needs his own space and I need my sanity back.

Description:  We are long over due for a change from a toddler's room to a preschooler's room! We've recently put on a fresh coat of paint but, like many, we're struggling financially so it really wasn't in our budget to be able to do the things we've wanted to do for her. This would be a HUGE opportunity for our family and would love to give our amazing little girl the room of her dreams. Thank you so much. The Deck Family

Description:  William and Ethan are step brothers who each lost a parent in accidents that occurred over 3 and 1/2 ago an eighth of a mile away on interstate 395 in Quaker Hill. These boys have endured the same hardships before they even met. They have to share a bedroom that tends to get cluttered with all their things. Since they have already lost so much in their life I believe they deserve only the best. They are very good in school and are very kind hearted. They would love to have a new room.

Description:  My daughter has always wanted a dream room. My husband and I are always working hard just to pay bills and as soon as we start to put a saving together we get hit with something big to have to spend out money on. We are both struggling to make ends meet and it would be so wonderful if my daughter could finally have the room she has always wanted.

She has also been working very hard in school and around the house to earn this room. Now she just needs a little help. When she saw this in the newspaper this weekend, she wanted me to enter her in the contest to help her earn her new room.

Description:  My husband and I both work full time opposite shifts in order to pay the mortgage and avoid childcare in this horrible economy. The original carpeting from the 1970s is still in his room (which cause some pretty serious skin allergies for him). He needs some organization and doors for his closet. A dream room for him would more be a dream for us, because then we could replace the carpets in the rest of the house. We'll donate any of the extras we don't need if we can get carpets, doors and storage! Please help us!

Description:  Kayla is 11 and has shared a room with her younger sister for 5 years. I promised her that I would finish the downstairs room for her so she could have her own room. I had to stop because I couldn't afford to finish when I lost my job. She has never complained or asked when it will be done. She is the most helpful kid in every way imaginable and never askes for anything in return. It would be my dream to be able for her to win this contest. Thanks

Description:  This is my son, Cole's room. We moved into this house a year ago and haven't had the time and resources to makeover his room. We recently had another son and I feel as though Cole needs to make sure he has a wonderful room of his own that he loves to play and can have friends over to play in. He is such a caring big brother and deserves a room of his own.

Description:  I’m fixing up a foreclosed home that I bought three years ago. At 7 ½ months pregnant, I’m working 57 hours a week to pay for supplies and to allow me to take some maternity leave as a single mom. Things always take longer than expected and the house isn’t going to be finished before the baby arrives! I‘d love to be working on the nursery right now but finishing the kitchen/living room are more important. It would be so much appreciated to have a cozy nursery for my little one to come home to in January!

Description:  My son Brady loves his two Grandfathers. Both of them have John Deere tractors and have spent hours with Brady on their laps as they drive the tractor around the yard. Sadly, his Grandfather in Connecticut has been moved to an assisted living home due to Alzheimer's disease. His other Grandfather lives in Minnesota, so we see him once or twice a year. I would love to bring the John Deere joy to Brady's bedroom so he can cherish his time with his Grandfathers even when he cannot be with them.
